A registered nurse for more than thirty-five years, his background is in haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) & aseptic technique. He is currently the Practice Development Lead for Haematology at University College Hospital in London (UCLH), UK; previously, he worked at the Myeloma Institute (formerly MIRT) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, USA. A former visiting lecturer and module leader at City University in London, Simon received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) as a Donaghey Scholar and a master’s degree in health & social care research (MRes) from King’s College London (KCL). He has authored or co-authored more than thirty peer-reviewed papers, journal articles and book chapters on infection prevention & control, aseptic technique, and bone marrow transplantation donor issues. Working collaboratively with colleagues around the world, he has helped author clinical guidelines and research for The-ASAP (2008-present), DRIPP (2018-present), INS (2018-2024), and EBMT (2004-2008). He is a previous recipient of the Nursing Times Infection Prevention Nurse of the Year Award (2008), and for the past twenty years, he has been working with the ANTT® programme, developing resources, teaching and presenting both in the UK, USA and around the world. Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT) is now the most widely used evidence-based aseptic technique in the world, used in more than 30 countries around the world and standardised with ASAP in countries as diverse as Australia and Algeria (http://wwwantt.org).
